Psalms for Worship
We sing at least one Psalm from the Scottish Psalter every week right before each sermon. Due to the unfamiliarity of these Psalms in our culture we try to post these Psalms so that those attending may be able to practice them during their family devotions to help diminish the awkwardness of some of the Psalms during our worship service. More importantly, we pray that, through the singing of these metered Psalms, a greater appreciation and love for the Scriptures will ever grow in the hearts of those that sing them. The tunes listed are called by the title of the song to which our congregation is most familiar with the proper tune name following. The majority of these Psalms are written in what is called the Common Meter (CM) or Common Meter Doubled (CMD) or that has a syllable sequence of 8.6.8.6 or 8.6.8.6.8.6.8.6 for doubled meter. Feel free to mix and match different tunes from the following website to various Psalms in your family or private worship times.
Please note that selecting the tunes on the Cyber Hymnal website will download them to your download folder.
